Definitions and Financial Terms:

Cash Flow: Cash flow is the net amount of cash and cash equivalents being transferred into and out of a business. Cash received represents inflows, while money spent represents outflows.

Duration: Duration is a measure of the sensitivity of the price of a bond or other debt instrument to a change in interest rates.

Russell 2000: Represented by the Russell 2000 Index. The Russell 2000 Index is comprised of the smallest 2000 companies in the Russell 3000 Index, representing approximately 8% of the Russell 3000 total market capitalization.

S&P 500: The S&P 500® is widely regarded as the best single gauge of large-cap U.S. equities and serves as the foundation for a wide range of investment products. The index includes 500 leading companies and captures approximately 80% coverage of available market capitalization.


Bond ratings are grades given to bonds that indicates their credit quality as determined by a private independent rating service such as [Standard & Poor’s or Moody’s, etc.]. The firm evaluates a bond issuer’s financial strength, or its ability to pay a bond’s principal and interest in a timely fashion. Ratings are expressed as letters ranging from ‘AAA’, which is the highest grade, to ‘D’, which is the lowest grade.
